<p>La creazione del Presepe (o “Crib”) è una tradizione che affonda le radici nel 1223, quando San Francesco d'Assisi allestì la prima rappresentazione vivente a Greccio per rendere tangibile la povertà e l'umanità della nascita di Cristo. Da lì, l'usanza di ricreare la scena con statuette si diffuse in tutto il mondo cristiano. In Val Gardena, l'arte della scultura lignea, nata come attività secondaria per i contadini nei lunghi inverni, si è elevata a vera e propria forma d'arte nel XVII secolo. Gli artigiani gardenesi hanno sviluppato tecniche uniche per scolpire figure sacre, tramandando di generazione in generazione non solo un mestiere, ma la devozione insita in ogni pezzo, rendendo la Val Gardena il cuore della scultura sacra in legno.</p>
