Description

An act of charity immortalized in wood with unparalleled craftsmanship. This sculpture depicts Saint Martin in his most famous act: dividing his cloak with a poor man. The knight saint, with a generous and compassionate gesture, offers half of his cloak to a shivering beggar, in a work that conveys human warmth, faith, and nobility of spirit.

Every detail is sculpted with the precision and sensitivity that distinguish the great sculptural tradition of Val Gardena. The expressions on the faces, the drapery of the cloak, and the posture of the figures are chiseled with millimeter accuracy, making each piece a unique and unrepeatable work of art.

Quality and Materials: The sculpture is made of precious maple wood, selected for its compactness and fine grain, ideal for rendering sculptural details. Available in various sizes, it is hand-painted with oil colors by expert artisans, who enhance the chromatic depth, the volume of the figures, and the richness of the fabrics. A work destined to last for generations, a symbol of Christian faith and generosity.

  • 🌿 Authentic Val Gardena craftsmanship — each sculpture is hand-carved and hand-painted by master artisans with centuries of tradition, guaranteeing a unique and unrepeatable piece.
  • 🎨 Hand-applied oil colors — oil painting gives chromatic depth, lasting brilliance, and superior detail rendering compared to industrial finishes.
  • 🏡 Collectible work for generations — made of selected maple wood, it withstands time and becomes a precious gift to be handed down, perfect for homes, churches, and sacred environments.
Detail & Meaning
Hand-finished in maple wood by the masters of Val Gardena, each sculpture is a unique piece with millimeter-precise chiseled details and hand-painted in oil for deep and lasting colors. Available in various sizes, from the small 15 cm to monumental versions.

Saint Martin dividing his cloak is the most powerful symbol of Christian charity: sharing what you have with those who have nothing. An ideal gift for baptisms, confirmations, priestly anniversaries, or for those named Martin.
Story
Saint Martin of Tours, born in Hungary in 316 AD, is a Christian saint venerated for his generosity. His most celebrated act was sharing his military cloak with a freezing beggar. This episode, followed by a vision of Jesus, prompted him to leave the army to dedicate himself to monastic and then episcopal life in Tours. Known for his humility and dedication to the poor, he was one of the first non-martyr saints to be venerated. His feast day, November 11, is celebrated in Europe with fairs and sharing of food and wine, in Italy associated with new wine. His story still inspires generosity and service today.
