In the New Testament, the term "archangel" is attributed to Michael. Only later was it extended to Gabriel and Raphael, the only three archangels recognized by the Church whose names are documented in the Bible. Saint Michael, "who like God?", is supreme head of the heavenly army, of angels faithful to God. Ancient patron of the Synagogue today is the patron of the Universal Church, which has always considered him of help in the fight against the forces of evil.
