Baby infant Jesus of Prague Wooden Engraved Figurine with World and Cross carved Made; It is believed that the image was carved in southern Spain in the 16th century, by an unknown sculptor, and that it came into the hands of the family of the Counts of Trevino and Dukes of Najera who were ambassadors of the Spanish monarchy in Prague. In 1628 it was then given to the Discalced Carmelites of the convent of the church of Santa Maria de la Victoria by Polyxena von Lewkowicz, who in turn had received it as a wedding gift from her mother María Manrique de Lara.
The image is the object of great devotion because of its miraculous reputation and has received several papal awards: Leo XIII established the Congregation of the Infant Jesus of Prague in 1896, Pius X organized the Brotherhood of the Infant Jesus of Prague in 1913, and most recently, Benedict XVI donated a golden crown on the occasion of his apostolic visit to the Czech Republic in September 2009.
