St. Florian with flag, water jug, he is protector of houses and patron saint of the fire brigade; St. Florian, commemorated in the Roman martyrology on May 4, was an officer in the Roman army who held a high administrative post in Noricum, today's Austria, and who suffered death for the faith in the days of Diocletian. In his legendary ""Acts"" it is said that he faced the soldiers of the governor Aquilinus in Lorch when they were rounding up the Christians, and after he made a bold confession, he was scourged twice, killed half alive, set on fire and finally thrown into the River Enns with a stone around his neck. His body was recovered and buried by a pious woman and finally taken to the Augustinian monastery of St. Florian near Linz. Later he is said to have been transferred to Rome and Pope Lucius III. in 1138 donated some of the saint's relics to King Casimir of Poland and the bishop of Kraków. Since then, St. Florian has been considered the patron saint of Poland, but also of Linz, Upper Austria and the fire departments. St. Florian is venerated in many parts of Central Europe, and the tradition of his martyrdom not far from the point where the Enns flows into the Danube is old and reliable. Many healing miracles are attributed to his intercession and he is invoked as a powerful protector in the event of danger from fire or water. His feast day is May 4th. This product is characterized by a sophisticated brunito finish that gives an elegant and high-quality appearance.
