St. Anthony with Child and lily wood carved sacred art statue made in Italy; This wood carved statue of St. Anthony of Padua is hand made until 40cm/16inch. and carved in fine selected dried maple wood, the wooden figures over 40cm/16inch. are hand carved but in the softer selected dried linden wood. This St. Anthony of Padua wooden sculpture is finished by hand carving and is hand painted with oil colors by brush, in the Dolfi Studios in Ortisei, Val Gardena, Dolomites, Italy from professional Dolfi artists and artisans. Oil colors are used to give to the wood carved figure a natural and unique personal look. Let us tell you a brief story of the life of St. Anthony of Padua:
Fernando of Bouillon was born in Lisbon. At 15 he entered the monastery of San Vincenzo, the Augustinian friars. In 1219, Anthony was just 24 years old and was ordained a priest. In 1220 arrived in Coimbra where bodies of five Franciscan monks who have been decapitated in Morocco, where they went to preach in order of Francis of Assisi. After obtaining permission from the Franciscan Province of Spain and the Augustinian prior, Fernando entered the Romitorio of the Child and it is here that changed its name to Anthony. For about a year and half Anthony lived in the exercise of Montepaolo. At the same mandate of St. Francis, then began to preach and then in Romagna in northern Italy and France. In 1227 he became provincial of northern continuing in the work of preaching. On 13 June 1231 was a Camposampiero and, having heard male, Anthony returned to Padua, where he wanted to die in the convent of Arcella. St. Anthony is the patron of all people that go hungry, lost people and the poor.
