Saint Apollonia is a saint venerated by the Catholic and Orthodox Church. She is known as the patron saint of dentists and tooth sufferers. St Apollonia was a third-century Christian martyr who suffered torture and mutilation of her teeth because of her faith. She is often depicted with a rapier or a palm tree, symbols of her martyrdom. Her feast day is celebrated on 9 February. St Apollonia is also invoked as a protector against toothache and dental diseases.
